Tsunami's Monk Running Challenge-- Tyria
Here is my challenge to you:
Run across Tyria. Using Gamecam (works best imo) record your run across Tyria (this may be done in sections to cut down on file sizes: Ascalon, N. Shiverpeaks, Kryta, Desert, Droks Run, S.Shiverpeaks)
RUN: Ascalon->N. Shiverpeaks->Kryta->[maguuma is optional and wont be counted in your final time for your run]->Santum Cay[don't need to run mission]->Amnoon Oasis->Augury Rock->ALL Desert Towns // Becons Perch->Droks->Granite Citadel // Droks->Copper Hammer->Iron Mines->THK->Grotto
There is no prize (If you insist...Shard to 55 winner).
My goal is to show the Guild Wars community that monks can run anywhere rangers and warriors can.
Currently, I'm not much of a monk runner but I can do a select few locations on it (ascalon, kryta, n. shiverpeaks and a bit of s. shiverpeaks) yet I can't do a complete run.
Onto The Rules:
1. You must use a monk primary (secondary is up to you). this includes all types of monks (including 55). 2 catagories: 55 running and other
2. You must use a decent quality video capture device ( I reccomend gamecam: http://www.planetgamecam.com/ )
3. You may split your run into these sections (to cut down on file size..not to cut down on time): Ascalon, N. Shiverpeaks, Kryta (sanctum kay mission not needed), Desert towns (desert missions not needed), Droks Run, S. Shiverpeaks (includes warcamp, citadel, and run from droks->all stops->grotto.
4. You may cut out loading time as it varies from user to user (add a transition between loading times when editing)
5. You may bring players along in the run (they may not help) to earn money while you are filming (they must agree to be filmed).
6. You must time your run and post it along with your file/files in this thread (this is not a "first person to post wins" challenge it is a TIMED challenge).
7. Dual running is NOT allowed
8. Upload Files on FileFront.
-Tsunami
--edit--
Submission deadline is April 29, 2006 [Feel free to submit your running videos even if the deadline is past.]

I'll do it as long as I don't have to do the Droks run again :P
(Hate that so much.... ran it twice, and never want to try that again... see my thread for screens)
EDIT: I think Gamecam would lag me too much to record that run anyways..

We all know you can do the droks run and since it's already posted you can use that as your droks run for this challenge.

Woot!
I made a new build for Granite -> Copper so I'll re-record a run, and I'll keep my video file for the Copper -> IM run. Gonna run that challenge in parts this week.
BTW I don't think Dual running should be allowed.... it kinda ruins the purpose of making stuff as hard as possible (i.e.: the droks run would be pretty easy with 2 runners)

Hm..I guess you're right. After thinking about it a bit that would give dual runners a LARGE advantage

I dunno how to even record but as cerb said it'd probably lag me out anyway.
I'd say the hardest part would be Augury ----> Seekers if you couldn't find a good spot to avoid the mesmers...
Oh that and Copper ----> Iron, i hate that run so much, seriously why the hell did i decide to go the LONG way round!
I presume this includes running Sanctum Cay too btw?

If you read carefully I posted in there that you didn't need to do sanctum. Also, I put in that you can bring henches along with you ONLY from Amnoon->augury.
--edit--
On a side note, I'll try to participate. Don't know how well I can run s.shiverpeaks and I didn't record my droks run when I finally completed it

Ah sorry, missed that. But my next question is, why not *remembers you have to carry the scepter giving you 105 health*
I may need to redo an area in that case, i think i used henchman for the run from IM ---> Grotto (skipped THK for some reason) to get past the stupidly large number of ice imps.
How difficult is the droks run btw, makes me wanna give it a spin. I can see Chilblains been pretty damn annoying.

Chillblains won't cause problems, since they don't run into you (they'll use it if you run into them, tho)
Only problem is Wurms, mixed with Aviacara/etc.
BTW, wurm AI didnt change anything..

Once I get more acquainted with the runs in question, sure, I'll be up for it... Are we allowed to post how much we hate running a friend from Lion's Arch to D'Alessio with a 55 monk?
Put simply (for those of you smart enough not to do that particular run):
You need cover enchantments for your cover enchantment.

I think you should keep the same rules for everyone, everywhere. Solo monk running should be able to do that run without henchies:
http://www.guildwarsguru.com/forum/s...8&postcount=36
Hell, doing this with 55 hp was a challenge, but with normal health it was very easy.

Actually you are correct, there are certain spawns (rare) where they do follow you for a REALLY long time.
This is the same patch that nerfed AoE and rendered Balthazar's Aura useless.

--Updated--
- Easier viewing
- Two catagories for runners: 55 and Other
- Amnoon Oasis->Augury may NOT be done with henches (cerb proved me wrong)
--edit--
It would be nice if someone could make me a filefront account (it doesn't work for me for some reason when I try to make an account) and PM me with user and password that would be nice (as I might be able to participate...if i cant do all those S.Shiverpeak runs )

I can run Iron Mines->THK->Grotto.
It's not up there, but I can also do Warcamp->Citadel->Copper.
Non-55 build. I can record them if you guys can give me the name of a program that does it. Thanks.
